Media Center

All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof,
for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of
God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Meet our Media  Center Faculty!

Meet Mrs. Mack (right) and Mrs. Hambright (left), your Media Center faculty members! Mrs. Mack is our Media Center Specialist and Mrs. Hambright is our Media Center Assistant & Technology Specialist. These two are developing exciting new programs for our Media Center each day! Keep watching and listening for more from these two in the coming months!

Welcome to the WCA media center! It is a known fact that students work better and are more effectively when they are working not just for a grade, but because they are excited and interested. So, why not make learning exciting and interesting?  What better way to do this than by creating a warm, inviting environment, offering a coffee bar, and teaching literacy skills with singing, dancing, and interactive games and activities on the Smartboard!

We Teach Both Traditional & Cutting-Edge Research Skills
Through these exciting activities, students are still learning the time-tested Dewey Decimal System, traditional research, and literary genres. To bring students into the 21st century, we use tools such as the Super 3 and Big 6 Research Processes to develop independent, self-driven work habits. We not only read books, we make them come to life through acting out characters as well as creating and presenting computerized Vokis and Google slides.

Please feel free to email Mrs. Mack, Media Center Specialist, at, or Mrs. Hambright, Media Assistant, at,  if you have any questions or if you'd like help selecting books for your child!

Fun Facts
Did you know there are more than 15,000 books in Wesleyan's media center? Or that parents can check out books too?? Here are a few of our most popular books in the library right now:  Dog Man, The Babysitter's Club, and National Geographic:  Weird But True!

We love your children!
We have a great time in the Media Center and enjoy serving all students! It is a blessing to teach these students and be able to pray alongside of them. Our desire is to help them continue growing so they can fulfill God’s total purpose for their lives!

Reading Programs in Our Elementary Classrooms!

Above: Our High School and Enrichment Center Principals, Tim Rickman and Becky Owens, get in on the act during Dr. Seuss Week at Wesleyan to get our youngest Trojans excited and inspired while High School student David Le (right) reads to our 2nd graders!

A Love for Reading
Fostering a love for reading in your child is important to us at Wesleyan. Reading is critical to every child's ability to learn and the research is clear that reading with your child not only creates a bond between you and your child, but it also often fosters a love for reading. That's why our teachers encourage our students to read 15 minutes each night with their parents from the books they have selected from the Media Center.

Reading Buddies
Our classes also celebrate reading via student mentor programs called "Reading Buddies" throughout the year. For example, a K1 student is paired up with a first grade student who visit his or her class on a pre-determined schedule to read together, taking turns. A branch of this program has taken wings in the Enrichment Center with upper classmen reading with younger students under the supervision of a teacher with exceptional results!

Guest Readers
Last but not least, our students love guest readers! From parents to local college athletes to WCA high school students and staff, the excitement of having a guest reader makes their reading time in class and extra special one!

Online Research Tools

Below are three complimentary online research tools provided by Wesleyan, for your children to use! Please let us know if you have any questions at all!
